MyMedicare – Strengthening Your Relationship With Your GP

The Australian Government has introduced MyMedicare, a new voluntary patient registration program designed to strengthen the relationship between patients and their regular general practice. The program aims to improve continuity of care and ensure patients receive better, more coordinated healthcare from the practice that knows them best.

What Is MyMedicare?


MyMedicare is a voluntary program that allows patients to formally register with their preferred general practice and GP. This helps ensure that your healthcare is coordinated by a team that understands your medical history and long-term health needs.

By registering with MyMedicare, you are identifying your regular practice for ongoing care.

Registering for MyMedicare can provide several benefits for patients, including:

  • Access to longer Medicare-funded telehealth consultations with your registered practice

Who Can Register?


To register with MyMedicare, you must:

  • Have a Medicare card (or Department of Veterans’ Affairs card)

  • Have had at least two face-to-face visits with the same practice in the last 24 months, including one with a GP

Registration is completely free and voluntary, and you can change your registered practice if needed.


How to Register With Lakeside Medical Practice


Patients who wish to register with Lakeside Medical Practice can do so in a few simple ways:

  1. Online through Medicare Online Services (myGov)

  2. Through the Express Plus Medicare mobile app

  3. By completing a registration form at our reception
